About the Members of Underrepresented Groups in Philosophy of Neuroscience List
This list of members of underrepresented groups focuses on persons working in areas considered philosophy of neuroscience (e.g., traditional philosophy of science topics in neuroscience, foundational issues in cognitive, computational, systems, molecular, and cellular neuroscience). The purpose of this list is to provide as comprehensive a list as possible of members of underrepresented groups working in philosophy of neuroscience in order to provide a tool for creating inclusive speaker series, workshops, symposia proposals, and other events. While other lists for underrepresented groups in philosophy exist, they tend to focus on philosophy of mind and neuroethics in addition to philosophy of neuroscience. These lists are also incomplete and primarily self-report.
For the purposes of this list, underrepresented groups include people of color, Latinx people, women, disabled people, and LGBTQA people. Much of philosophy also overrepresents the work of philosophers in North America, Australia, New Zealand, and Europe, especially in English speaking countries. Philosophers working outside of these contexts (and especially those who are also members of other underrepresented groups) should be included in this list.
